Rishikesh: Three people, including resort owner Pulkit Arya, were arrested on Friday in connection with the alleged murder of Ankita Bhandari, who went missing about six days ago. A search is on for the body of a 19-year-old receptionist working at the resort.
Police said the accused confessed to pushing her into the canal after the altercation and she drowned. Pulkit Arya is the son of former Uttarakhand minister and BJP leader Vinod Arya. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that harshest punishment will be given for such crimes.
“It is a matter of misfortune. Police is working, they have done their job to make arrests. Such heinous crimes will be punished severely, whoever is the culprit,” he said. Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP) DGP) Ashok Kumar told ANI That the owner of the resort Pulkit Arya has been arrested along with two more accused in the case.

“The girl went missing five-six days ago. The area of the resort does not come under the regular police station area. There is a Patwari police system here and under that an FIR has been registered on behalf of the resort owner.
“The DM handed over the matter to Laxman Jhula police, who resolved the matter within 24 hours. The owner of the resort turned out to be the accused. Three accused including resort owner Pulkit have been arrested.
In Rishikesh, locals today gheraoed the police vehicle carrying the accused in the murder case earlier today. The accused were also beaten up. SDRF team of Uttarakhand Police is searching for the victim’s body.
