Congress promises 1 lakh jobs, restoration of pension scheme, financial assistance for women

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday said her party would give 1 lakh jobs to every woman in the state, restore the old pension scheme and provide financial assistance of Rs 1,500 to each woman if voted to power in the upcoming assembly elections.

Addressing a rally here, Vadra said the Congress will also fight the menace of drug abuse, which is ruining the future of the youth, and build English-medium schools in every assembly constituency.

He also hit out at the state government, saying that the state is in debt to the BJP government and 63,000 government posts are lying vacant.

Citing the work done by the Congress in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, Vadra said his party would fulfill its promises in Himachal as well.

Congress will create 1 lakh jobs… Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is sitting here, he has given 5 lakh jobs in three years. The Congress government in Rajasthan has provided 1.30 lakh jobs,” she said.

He said that today Chhattisgarh has the lowest unemployment rate.

Vadra said that if Congress comes to power, the decision to provide one lakh jobs to the youth of Himachal Pradesh will be finalized in the first cabinet meeting.

“We are also saying that we will try our best to provide 5 lakh jobs in five years. This is our guarantee,” she said.

He said that if the Congress comes to power, the decision to restore the old pension scheme will also be finalized in the first cabinet meeting.

The Congress leader said that she understands the burden on the shoulders of women working at home and outside.

“That’s why the Congress wants to give financial assistance of Rs 1500 per month to every woman. This scheme is called ‘Har Ghar Laxmi Yojana’.

In addition, the Congress wants to set up four English-medium schools in each assembly constituency and fight the menace of drugs.

Vadra targeted the BJP and said that the party does not want to do anything for the people and works for its selfishness.

He claimed that 63,000 government posts in Himachal Pradesh are lying vacant for the last five years and the state has a debt of Rs 70,000 crore.

“When we say we will give 1 lakh jobs, their (BJP) chief minister says it is not possible. But when they want to sell country assets, PSUs to their corporate friends, it is possible,” she said.

Vadra said the BJP says there is no money to restore the old pension scheme.

“You have waived off Rs 10 lakh crore loans of big corporates. You had money for that, but there is no money for an employee’s pension,” he asked.

Vadra said the Center has failed to address issues like inflation and in turn has harassed people with higher taxes.

People are asking for freedom from inflation and you say take GST and more tax. Even the GST on cartons used for packing apples has been increased. This is the answer you get,” she said.

He called upon the people to cast their vote after evaluating the pure intentions.

“Do you want the youth to remain unemployed for the next five years, no recruitment in the army, scams in police and teachers recruitment,” he asked the gathering.

Himachal Pradesh will go to polls on November 12 and the counting of votes will take place on December 8.
