Court extended the remand of friend Mazari

Lahore: A judicial magistrate on Thursday extended the remand of former Punjab Assembly deputy speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari in connection with the alleged illegal allotment of 2,500 kanals of land in Rajanpur district.

Mazari was produced before a magistrate by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) team after the expiry of his two-day remand period.

At the beginning of the hearing, ACE officials sought 10 physical remand of Mazari, former deputy speaker of the Punjab Assembly.

ACE’s prosecutor told the court that further custody of the suspect was needed to complete the investigation.

After hearing the arguments, the court rejected the 10-corporal remand request and sent Mazari to the custody of the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) for one more day.

Mazari was arrested by ACE Punjab yesterday last Saturday from a private hospital.

Dost Muhammad Mazari was removed from the post of PA deputy speaker in July through a motion of no confidence by PTI and allies. He ruled in favor of PML-N’s Hamza Shahbaz in the CM election.
