ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court, in its written order issued today, has termed the oral apology of PTI chairman Imran Khan as satisfactory before the IHC bench.
A five-member larger bench of the IHC has issued a written order directing Imran Khan to submit an affidavit apologizing in black and white.
Earlier in the day, the Islamabad High Court decided not to frame charges in the contempt case against Imran Khan for threatening Additional District and Sessions Judge Jeba Chowdhury.
The IHC deferred the contempt proceedings against Imran Khan after the former prime minister expressed his desire to apologize to Sessions Judge Jeba Chowdhury.
A five-member bench of IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Miyangul Hasan Aurangzeb, Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri and Justice Babar Sattar heard the contempt case against Imran Khan.
During today’s hearing, the PTI chairman sought permission from the larger bench to record his statement. He told the court, ‘I am ready to apologize to the lady judge.
The former prime minister said that he did not intend to threaten the woman judge. “The court says so, I am ready to personally go to the judge and apologise,” he said. repeat something like this in the future.
Subsequently, IHC CJ Athar Minallah remarked that it would not be appropriate to take contempt proceedings. The court decided not to charge the PTI chief after Justice Chowdhury agreed to apologise and the hearing was later adjourned till September 26 (Monday).
