PFI cadre deported from Singapore, arrested on arrival by NIA
Top sources have told CNN-News18 that Sahil Hammad, an Indian national based in Singapore, has been deported to India. He was reportedly involved in raising funds from the island country for the Popular Front of India (PFI) since 2016.
The development comes at a time when PFI was raided by multi-agency teams led by the National Investigation Agency in 15 states on Thursday, leading to the arrest of 106 office-bearers for allegedly supporting terrorist activities in the country. .
According to sources, Sahil was working as a quality analyst and quality controller in a Singapore-based firm Dyna-Mac Engineering Services Pvt Ltd.
He made several foreign bank transfers from Singapore to PFI and due to these many transfers he came under scrutiny.
Sahil reportedly came in contact with PFI in 2009 and became a regular cadre.
On his arrival, he was arrested by the NIA at the airport, officials said. He briefed about fundraising and other activities of PFI in Singapore.
