On getting information about the incident, Congress state president DK Shivakumar reached the High Ground police station where the policemen took him.

Bengaluru Police questioned former Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee social media cell chief BR Naidu in connection with the party’s ‘PECM’ campaign targeting Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. On getting information about the incident, Congress state president DK Shivakumar reached the High Ground police station where the policemen took him.

Speaking to reporters near the police station, Shivakumar termed the action as “hypersensitivity”. The party claimed that the police picked up Naidu from his house around last midnight. He also warned that 100 MLAs would participate in pasting ‘PayCM’ posters in public places on Friday.

The Congress on Wednesday launched a QR code ‘PayCM 40% Accepted Here’ campaign with Bommai’s face. Such posters were pasted on the walls in many parts of the city. Upon scanning the QR code, people were directed to a website, “40percentsarkara.com”, which was charged by Congress with a 40 percent commission in government contracts put up by the contractors’ body. The party also tweeted the QR code and urged people to register their complaints of corruption against the state government by scanning it.

Bommai on Wednesday ordered a probe into the ‘PECM’ campaign, terming it a “conspiracy” and an attempt to malign himself and the state’s image.
