MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik – November 23, 2022) Russian President Vladimir Putin will fly to the Armenian capital of Yerevan on Wednesday, where he will attend the regular session of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), during which they will discuss the areas cooperation, as well as on urgent international and regional issues.
CSTO includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
In 2022, the association will be chaired by Armenia, the following year the chairing will be transferred to Belarus.
The event is expected to be attended by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, with whom the Russian leader should have a separate meeting, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakh President Kassim Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadir Japarov and Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon.
The meeting will also be attended by the Secretary General of the CSTO, Stanislav Zas, who previously stated that he considers it necessary to extend the mandate in the future. His mandate expires on January 1, 2023. The leaders of the CSTO countries at the Collective Security Council will discuss the issue of rotation of the Secretary General on Wednesday.
