Voting for the Senate seat left vacant by the resignation of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokar will be held on December 8 in the Sindh Assembly.
According to the report, Khokar quit his Senate membership on the advice of the party’s senior leadership on November 10. Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar was elected on a PPP ticket to the main seat from Sindh, in the March 2018 Senate elections.
As many as five candidates – two from PPP and three from Muttahida Qoumi Movement (MKM) Pakistan have submitted their nomination papers.
According to the schedule released by the ECP, the consideration of the nomination papers will be held on Friday and November 28 has been fixed as the last date for filing appeals against the acceptance or rejection of the candidates.
The Pakistan People’s Party has awarded a ticket to Karachi-based senior leader Waqar Mehdi for the seat. Mehdi was currently working as the general secretary of the PPP Sindh branch.
