Tharparkar: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has sought a progress report within two weeks in the Mithi gang rape and suicide case on Thursday, ARY News reported.
Earlier this week, the Chief Justice (CJ) of the Sindh High Court (SHC), Ahmed Ali Shaikh, took cognizance of the Mithi gang rape and suicide case.
DIG Mirpurkhas, Zulfikar Mahar, SSP Tharparkar, Hasan Sardar, family members of the rape victim and others appeared in the court.
DIG Mirpurkhas Zulfikar Mahar, presenting the report before the SHC CJ in the rape case, said that four accused in the case have been arrested while further investigation is on.
While directing the DNA test of the accused in the case, the SHC has asked the police to cooperate with the victim’s family in the matter.
The hearing of the case was later adjourned for two weeks.
The victim of gang rape allegedly committed suicide on Monday in village Mehran Soomro of Tharparkar’s Kaloi police station area.

The victim’s body was sent to Taluka Hospital Dipol Town for postmortem late Sunday night.
The girl was allegedly abducted five days ago by some “unknown” persons and kidnappers, who after raping her left her at a secluded place near her village.
The victim, in her written complaint to the police, had said that she was criminally assaulted when she was on her way to Hyderabad a few months back to collect official documents for her father’s pension.
