Teacher hired contract killers through Facebook for killing lover’s wife, gave Rs 3 lakh
Navi Mumbai Police has arrested six persons in connection with the murder of a 29-year-old woman working as a digital marketing executive in a Thane company. Victim Priyanka Rawat was murdered with a knife by unidentified assailants outside Panvel railway station on September 15, while she was on her way home.
During investigation, the police found that the murder was planned by the victim’s husband Devvrat Singh Rawat (32), who works as a sales executive for an e-commerce company in Vashi, and his girlfriend Nikita Matkar (24). ), is a teacher in an educational institution. Coaching Center.
Hindustan Times on Wednesday quoted police officials as saying that Nikita Matkar, who was the first of six people to be arrested on Monday, was reportedly searching for the contract killer on the internet for nearly two months.
Citing the search history on Matkar’s computer, the police said that the accused had hired three killers for three lakh rupees to kill Priyanka Rawat through Facebook.
Besides Matkar and Rawat, the police have arrested Praveen Ghadge (45), who runs private tutorials in Mankhurd, where Nitika used to work, as well as three men hired to kill Priyanka – Pankaj Narendra Kumar Yadav. (26), Deepak Dinkar Chokhande (25) and Rawat Raju Sonon (22).
According to Zone II Deputy Commissioner of Police Shivraj Patil, “The accused are in police custody till Thursday.”
According to a Hindustan Times report, Matkar was reportedly looking for the contract killer on the internet for nearly two months. A senior police officer familiar with the matter said, “When she couldn’t find any on Google, she went to Facebook and eventually found a group, which also had her contact details.”
Matkar reportedly didn’t think she’d be caught, and so didn’t bother to clear her Internet search history.
Matkar contacted the miscreants on the phone. She involved Praveen Ghadge in this case, with whom she was in a relationship after meeting for the first time in 2018.
Ghadge then escalated the conversation and met the gangsters in Mumbai and paid Rs 2 lakh out of the total amount of Rs 3 lakh.
A day after the murder of Priyanka Rawat, the police prima facie detained her Devvrat Singh Rawat and Matkar as prime suspects. When the two were interrogated separately, they revealed that they had got married in a temple in August, which Priyanka came to know about. They wanted to get Priyanka out of their way so that they could be together.
